Tasweek Real Estate Marketing and Development, an Abu Dhabi-based property advisor and solutions provider serving the Middle East real estate markets, has announced that it plans to create a real estate investment portfolio worth USD250 million featuring key Dubai and Abu Dhabi projects within the next 18 months.

Masood Al Awar, CEO, Tasweek Real Estate Marketing and Development, said: “We plan to acquire properties in free zones and investment zones in Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the next few months. We have already begun acquiring properties using our own funds. We are ready to a steady start and are confident that we can raise the total amount we need mainly through the support of our shareholders and potential investors.”

“We have already identified some strategic locations and we are aiming for an asset structure comprising a mix of commercial, residential and retail investments,” he added.

Among the locations being eyed by Tasweek are Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence and Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) in Dubai and Reem Island, Al Raha Beach, and Building Material City in Abu Dhabi. The targeted acquisitions are expected to generate a return on investment of at least 10 per cent. The company will focus on transactions that can expand its core competencies of networking and professionalism and will decide on buying single units, complete floors or even projects at the opportune time.

Tasweek recently signed management and marketing consultancy Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with independent management and technology consulting firm RQ Associates Ltd. and strategic marketing, communication and training consultancy IK Consult Ltd. The MoUs form part of TASWEEK’s strategy of offering a one-stop shop for real estate and related services and marketing.

“We recognize the need to meet the growing market demand for efficiency and effectiveness. We want to build on solid portfolios and services and further enhance our mediation between developers, customers and banks,” concluded Al Awar.

Dubai (Roads & Transport Authority):

The Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) held a joint gathering with Dubai Police General HQ to introduce and promote the features and benefits of the ‘Metro Mobility Culture’. The gathering, which was held at the meeting room of Dubai Police General HQ, is part of an educative campaign initiated by the RTA to promote the culture of public transport among the various community segments and organizations. The campaign emphasizes on the mobility through the Metro; the latest and most exciting transport mode in the emirate of Dubai, and highlights the importance of encouraging government employees to use it.
“RTA assigns great importance to Dubai Metro and the need to promote the culture of the ‘Metro Mobility’ as a means of travelling to various destinations in the emirate of Dubai. Therefore it is crucial to give maximum publicity to all the relevant information about Dubai Metro; particularly the core information related to the fares, lines, stations, headway, and hours and Nol cards” said Peyman Younes Parham, Director of Marketing & Corporate Communication Dep’t at RTA Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector.
“The Marketing & Corporate Communication Dep’t has taken all measures and precautions related to delivering the knowledge and information about Dubai Metro through a series of far-reaching promotional campaigns launched before the metro is operated.
“These joint introductory gatherings are extremely important particularly in this timing. We have held several joint introductory gatherings with many authorities, departments and organizations in Dubai. Earlier gatherings have been held with the Ministry of Education, Dubai Water & Electricity Authority, DP World, and the Islamic Affairs Dep’t. Similar gatherings are planned to be held in future with Dubai Municipality, Dubai Airport, Dubai Holding, Emaar, and Nakheel.
“The public is very much in need of sufficient information feed about the metro and the enjoyable mobility associated with this new transport mode; the safest and fastest for reaching the intended destination that saves commuters from driving woes and traffic jams. Moreover, those who elect to use the metro as a permanent means of travel across Dubai will feel the psychological and physical relief.
“Adding Dubai Police General HQ in the promotional gatherings plan is highly important as Dubai Police is a permanent strategic partner of the RTA, and has a high level of efficiency and experience as well as fruitful and effective communication with all government and semi-government bodies and departments as well as the private businesses. RTA counts very much on the partnership with Dubai Police as it is a key player in maintaining the order and security” added Peyman.
For his part H.E. Major General Abdul Rahman Mohammed Rafee, Director General of the General Department of Community Services at Dubai Police General HQ, expressed his delight with the successful inauguration of Dubai Metro; a historical event that will have lasting memories as it came at a time where Dubai heavily needs such a vital mode of transport. “Through launching Dubai Metro, RTA has given a generous offer to road users towards facilitating their daily travels. The General Department of Community Services at the HQ will exploit the media to inform the employees of Dubai Police General HQ on all the information related to Dubai Metro” he added.

Major developers show confidence in Cityscape

Major developers show confidence in Cityscape

Participation of key master developers underscores strategy to boost market confidence “.time to learn from the challenges…and to focus on the opportunities and threats that lie ahead,” says Cityscape

Master developers such as Emaar, Dubai Properties Group, Nakheel and Abu Dhabi’s Aldar are just some of the big brands participating in Cityscape Dubai, as a part of their collective strategies to augment investor confidence.

Meraas, a real estate investment company with operations and assets in the United Arab Emirates and abroad, continues to support Cityscape Dubai, which takes place from Monday 5 October to Thursday 8 October 2009. By using Cityscape as a platform, Meraas is also demonstrating its confidence in the real estate sector in Dubai.

“We have been emphasising for some time now that the objectives for many developers exhibiting at Cityscape Dubai is to reassure existing and potential investors,” said Rohan Marwaha, Managing Director, Cityscape.

“Clearly, no-one is expecting to see multi-billion dollar project launches or major finance deals being brokered. Instead they will be focusing on transparent progress reports on existing projects with realistic completion milestones and handover dates.

The announcement came as Cityscape organisers confirmed that, based on figures as of today (28 September 2009) this year’s exhibition floor space will only be approximately 30% smaller than in 2008. In addition the latest forecast predicts attendance figures will be down by 20%, a remarkable achievement given the exceptional market conditions which have left no region unaffected.

“The backbone of the Cityscape brand is its ability to reach local, regional and international investors,” said Marwaha. “Exhibitors and participants will continue to have access to private and institutional investors as well as other real estate professionals from around the world, which is critical if developers are to get their message across effectively to their target audience.

While the quantity of participants may have declined from previous peaks, the quality is being maintained with strong participation by major players in regional and international markets.”

Among other big names taking part are: Iskandar Region, Malaysia; La Defense, Paris; Meydan, Dubai; Mubadala, Abu Dhabi; the Tourism Development and Investment Company, Abu Dhabi; Bahrain Bay; Bloom Properties; Damac; Deyaar; Dubai World Central; Ithmaar; ADC, Aqaba, Jordan and Omniyat.

Cityscape Dubai’s foundation sponsors this year are Dubai Properties Group, a member of Dubai Holding, and a pioneering community developer offering services in real estate, retail, and hospitality and lifestyle management; Emaar, the Dubai Financial Market listed global property developer and provider of premier lifestyles; and Nakheel, developer of the iconic Palm Jumeirah and The World.

Tanmiyat, a Saudi Arabian investment company and real estate developer in the Middle East, is the platinum sponsor and the Aqaba Development Corporation from Jordan, a private sector company aimed at accelerating the development of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, is the silver sponsor.

“We have undertaken a number of initiatives to attract industry professionals to this year’s show,” Marwaha added. “Face-to-face networking, lively discussions and access to unbiased current information will be provided at a series of Cityscape Dubai special events. Each will bring together real estate experts to discuss topical as well as some controversial issues.”

The special events include: Investor Round Tables, the latest addition offering an exclusive opportunity for leading figures in real estate to discuss key issues; a City Leaders Forum will provide a platform connecting major global destinations; a CEO networking lunch will provide an intimate and exclusive opportunity. There are also the Cityscape Awards, the prestigious architectural awards under the theme Design for an Emerging World.

“The objective of these and other initiatives is to support the industry by providing a realistic and transparent view of what is happening throughout regional real estate,” Marwaha said. “As we see it, now is the time to learn from the challenges of the past 12 months and to focus on the opportunities and threats that lie ahead.”
