Al Fares equine show organizers hail La Martina’s move to bring its renowned products to the UAE

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: 8th December, 2009:

Al Fares Dubai, the premier exhibition for equestrian products and services, has welcomed the move by La Martina, a prestigious brand specializing in polo products as well as high fashion clothing, to bring its line to UAE consumers by opening a standalone store in Dubai.

This move follows La Martina’s opening of a new polo pro-shop at Guards Polo Club earlier this year under the attendance of HRH The Queen of England who officially cut the ribbon of that store.

Al Fares Dubai, which will take place between the 21st and 23rd of November 2010, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, has emerged as a platform for showcasing products and services for horses and riders in Asia and Africa.

The last edition of Al Fares which was held in Dubai, under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE Ruler of Dubai, attracted 274 exhibitors from 65 countries spanning all the six continents. Some 4,732 trade visitors visited the three day show, in addition to over 5,000 public visitors.

Mr. Satish Khanna, General Manager, Al Fajer Information and Services, which organizes the show that is the oldest equine trade fair in Asia and Africa, said: “The entry of international brands in the UAE is an evidence of the importance of the local equestrian industry. La Martina, the renowned Argentinean fashion brand, should be lauded for setting up shop in the UAE market, offering its complete range of fashion products, including the polo fashion line.”

The average annual spend of a polo player on such products was Dh. 12,000, according to Show studies.

The demand for La Martina fashion products and accessories has seen double digit growth in most key markets worldwide. La Martina has confidence in the UAE as the fashion hub and seat of equestrian sports in the Middle East.

The company’s approach has earned a loyal following across the globe and its products have wide appeal among Middle East’s fashion conscious people.

La Martina offers high-end fashion products, including polo fashion items that can be used both on and off the field. La Martina also makes accessories like saddles, belts and other products used in equestrian sports.

La Martina first established a name for itself as a designer of fashion products for polo players, but over the years, spurred by demand, the brand has diversified to add general fashion products for ladies, men and kids, in addition for the high quality leatherwear and accessories.

Khanna added: “The UAE Equestrian industry is set for a quantum jump, with the horse racing industry trebling in size over the past five years and the prize money growing by almost 100 per cent. Spectator numbers have been rising 30 per cent year on year, since 1998.”
