Maintenance works completed in both directions of 2nd December Bridge

The Roads & Transport Authority – Majdi Abu Zaid:

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently announced the completion of the maintenance of asphalt pavement works in both directions of the 2nd of December Bridge (from Satwa R/A in the direction of Al Garhoud Bridge and the opposite direction of the Bridge to Satwa R/A). Works have been rolling on 24 hours a day in order to complete the maintenance works on time, meet the needs of road users, and maintain road assets in the best operational condition.

Engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, said: "The RTA has completed the maintenance works of asphalt layers in a number of roads at the highest international standards. Over two weeks, works in the Bridge have been divided to minimize congestions in the area. The first week saw the completion of Phase I extending from the 2nd of December St up to Sheikh Rashid St and Phase II was completed in the second week extending from direction inbound from Sheikh Rashid St up the Bridge before the R/A of the 2nd of December St.

"These works were originally scheduled to be carried out at the beginning of this year, but RTA traffic surveys indicated that summer would be the perfect time for carrying out such works as the traffic movement would be minimal, considering the start of school & family summer vacation, thus expediting the completion of road works.

"Maintenance works carried out are part of the Agency's policy to conserve, raise the efficiency and ensure the sustainability of assets through adopting the highest international standards to ensure compliance with safety specifications and highest quality of roads in use; which will ultimately contribute to RTA's strategy enshrined in its motto of Safe & Smooth Transport for All," said Maitha.
