The Red Bull X-Fighters 2013 World Tour moves to Dubai for the second of its six stops this season, to Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai

DUBAI, UAE, 8 April 2013: Tom Pages of France will be looking to extend his lead at the top of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour at the second stop of the 2013 season, to be held in Dubai on April 12. The Dubai stop is supported by du under its live entertainment platform “du Live!“ and organized in association with Emaar and Ford. Pages will have the last two tour winners, Spain’s Dany Torres and New Zealand’s Levi Sherwood, hot on his heels at this hot stop in Dubai at a new location - Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard - Downtown Dubai, in the shadows of the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa.

Pages, who finished a close second to Sherwood in last year’s tour, the world’s most prestigious freestyle motocross series, was unstoppable in the 2013 season opener in March in Mexico City with a breathtaking display of FMX brilliance. Pages had the capacity crowd of 38,000 spectators gasping in disbelief in the thin air in Mexico some 2,240 meters above sea level with his incredible assortment of tricks that included jumps of up to 15 meters high and 30 meters in distance over mounds of dirt. Torres, who won in Dubai in 2011, and Sherwood, who won Dubai in 2012 en route to winning the World Tour, are looking forward to get revenge now that the tour is back near sea level. Torres and Sherwood, who finished second and third in Mexico City last month, vowed to work on new tricks for Dubai in an attempt to come out on top of Pages.

Coming in as a strong contender, Pages had this to say about his upcoming performance at the Dubai stop: “I am training very hard as the level of riders participating is very advanced. This is my first time in Dubai, and I look forward to discovering more about the city, the people and the track. Although winning is always a plus, I plan to make the most out of the stop by putting on a stellar show to win the people’s hearts. I will perform two all new tricks in addition to the Volt, Flair and Backflip, as we are lucky to have a quarter pipe on the track. I am very excited about this stop, and look forward to performing at the footsteps of the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa.”

Hosted in Dubai for the third year in a row, Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour will make Downtown Dubai its home on the 12th, after having been hosted on the golden sands of The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence. The riders will have the heat to contend with in Dubai as well as the sand, a big challenge for the world's best FMX riders and their mechanics. The Burj Khalifa, which opened in 2010, stands 829 meters high and has 163 floors.

Red Bull X-Fighters Dubai 2013 is supported by du and organized in association with Emaar, Ford, Swatch as well as Bridgestone, Dubai Sports Council, The Dubai Mall and MBC Action.

Tickets are available on www.redbullxfighters.com, www.timeouttickets.com and all Virgin Megastore branches across the UAE.
