RTA Renews Road & Pavement Markings

Dubai (United Arab Emirates): The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) embarked on an ambitious plan set for this year to renew road markings in several expressways as well as residential & industrial areas in the emirate of Dubai. The process aims to step-up road safety; a key ingredient in the drive to realize the vision of the RTA to provide Safe and Smooth Transport for All.

“The Agency is planning to pursue an intensive plan to maintain and renew pavement & road-surface markings. This covers renewing lane dividers, pedestrian crossing lines, road arrows, and yellow boxes on main and subsidiary roads in the emirate” said Nazim Faisal, Director of Roads and Facilities Maintenance Department at the RTA Traffic & Roads Agency.

“It is extremely important to carry out these works to enhance road safety. Renewing road markings is considerably important to motorists as it helps align the flow of vehicle stream in safe lanes, thus considered an important element in traffic safety means as these lines have to remain operational during day and night.

“During 2008, a number of road markings, pedestrian crossing markings, road arrows, and yellow boxes were renewed in several roads in Dubai. This covered University City Road, Thaniya Road, Manara Road, Al Maktoum Road, Al Wasl Road, Doha Road, Satwa Road, Mina Road, Safa Road, Marrakech Road, Al Ittihad Road, Abu Bakr El Siddique Road, Omar bin Al Khattab Road, and Ras Al Khor Road among others. A number of local roads at residential roads were also covered such as Umm Suqeim 2 & 3, Umm Harir 1 & 2, Rifa’a, Al Wasl Road, Al Bida’a, Hudhaiba, and Deira business district.
