Phase One of Marina Completed by Dubai Maritime City

Comprising 44 berths:

Phase One of Marina Completed by Dubai Maritime City

March 1, 2009
With the Dubai International Boat Show 2009 approaching in a few days, Dubai Maritime City, the world’s first purpose-built maritime centre and part of the Dubai World Group of companies, has announced a major milestone in the project’s development; the completion of phase one of its marina comprising 44 berths.

A total of 1,000 berths are set to be featured within Dubai Maritime City, adding a significant number to the much-needed space required for leisure boats and crafts that are expected to enter the market over the next few years. Officials within DMC estimate that around 30,000 to 50,000 new boats poised to be berthed at Dubai in the next 5 years.

The initial 44 berths will be used by Dubai Maritime City to test the impact of water movement around the City and the stability of boats within its marina. It will also house a number of vessels owned and operated by Dubai Maritime City Authority, which is responsible for the regulation of the maritime industry within the Emirate of Dubai.

“This is one of the key achievements in the project’s development, as upon completion a large number of vessels will be docked within Dubai Maritime City and we need to ensure that they can withstand the water movement and are stable within their positions,” stated Ali Al Daboos, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Maritime City.

Dubai Maritime City is an integrated maritime facility that caters to all requirements of the global maritime industry, including the region's fast-growing boating community. On completion, the maritime complex will feature six expertly master planned precincts: Harbour Offices, Harbour Residences, Maritime Centre, Marina District, Industrial Precinct and Dubai Maritime City Campus, each designed to provide world-class infrastructure facilities to different maritime industry players. Dubai Maritime City also offers investors and business organisations highly attractive economic incentives such as free-zone benefits, responsive government support, a tax-free business environment and an effective port structure.

RTA Reshuffles Routes, Ups Bus Fleet on Certain Lines

RTA Reshuffles Routes, Ups Bus Fleet on Certain Lines

Dubai (United Arab Emirates): Public Transport Agency at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) inaugurated yesterday a new bus route known as (X35), to cover a number of areas in the emirate of Dubai. The launch follows a broad-based field study conducted by Public Transport Agency to identify the needs for bus service in certain localities in order to meet the rising demand; which is fueled by the continuous population growth in the emirate.

“RTA Public Transport Agency is keen on broadening and upgrading its services to keep pace with the urbanization and demographic expansion across the UAE. This particularly applies to Dubai which has a high profile as a regional economic and business center and a point of attraction for investors and businesspersons from the world over,” said Abdullah Al Ali, Director of Bus Dep’t at RTA Public Transport Agency.

“The new Route (X35) starts off the Meadows, near Dubai British School 1 and stretches up to Al Warqa, near Sharjah American School. It passes across several areas in between such as Dubai International Academy, Lakes Turnoff, Jebel Ali Racecourse, the neighbourhood of Emirates Holidays at Sheikh Zayed Road, Trade Center Interchange, Dubai Naturalization and Residency Dep’t, Shindagha Souk, Al Maktoum Road, Al Garhoud Interchange, Airport Terminal 1 (Arrivals), Uptown Murdiff Center and others.

“Public Transport Agency has also beefed up its current bus fleet with a number of double deck and standard buses as of yesterday. Among the routes witnessing enhanced bus fleet are: Route 10; which received 6 new double-deckers such that the total fleet rises up to 15 double-deckers. Line 93 will have the existing 4 standard buses replaced by 5 double-deckers and route 98E will have the existing 7 standard buses replaced by 8 double-deckers. The fleet on Route 33 was upped to 20 standard buses instead of 12 standard buses such that the headway becomes 10 minutes instead of 20 minutes, and similarly Route 32C received 8 standard buses raising its operating fleet to 16 buses and improving the headway from 20 to 10 minutes. One articulated bus is deployed on Route 12X, elevating the operating fleet to 9 articulated buses in order to ensure the timely arrival of buses.

“A number of Routes have been abolished on the same date; namely: 6S, the two night routes (N4 and N5) and the Global Village Routes 103, 104 and 105; which have been discontinued as of 21 February with the end of Dubai Shopping Festival events” said Al Ali in a concluding remark.

'International Property Show - Dubai 2009' witnesses substantial property deals amidst downtrend in property sector

'International Property Show - Dubai 2009' witnesses substantial property deals amidst downtrend in property sector

Event organiser reveals positive exhibitor feedback

March 1, 2009

The 'International Property Show - Dubai 2009', the biggest transactional property exhibition in the region, has successfully concluded, witnessing substantial property deals struck among developers, real estate companies and investors who attended the three-day event. Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions (SME), organiser of the show, revealed that a majority of exhibitors have expressed positive feedback in relation to their participation amidst the current downtrend in the property sector, which has had obvious implications on this year’s event. Furthermore, the presence of RERA Consultancy Zones for the first time at the event, where authorised representatives disseminated information on introducing new property laws was also a huge hit among the attendees.

Global real estate companies who participated at the event include leading companies from the UK and US, in addition to international delegations from Malaysia, Spain, Thailand, South Africa, Bulgaria, Korea and Cyprus. Among the success stories during this year’s show was the participation of global exhibitors Scala Land Group from the UK, Polar Global Marketing Direct from Spain, and Stonehenge Builders, Inc. and Florida Choice Realty from the US, who all expressed their satisfaction over the results they have achieved. Considering the success of this year’s event and the positive feedback of the participants as well as investors, the organiser has announced the launch of a branch office in Italy to support the new strategies and services offered by the company.

“We have seen the excellent results of our participation, which has presented us with an opportunity to get closer to potential customers and partners based in the region and expose them to the extensive scope of our operations, which cover industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential projects. We really appreciate the presence of an event such as 'International Property Show - Dubai 2009', which provide internationally based organisations an opportunity to explore possible business opportunities with high net-worth investors in the Middle East. Given the favourable results we have achieved this year, we are looking forward to participating at next year’s event,” said Eve Wittmann, President & CEO of Advanced Global Network LLC, a joint venture partner of Stonehenge Builders Inc, Emerald Falcon Projects of Florida USA.

Headlining the local presence at the ‘International Property Show - Dubai 2009’ was the Falconcity of Wonders, who participated as the Gold Sponsor of the event. Furthermore, leading real estate companies that showcased their UAE-based developments at the show included Khoie Properties, Bonyan International Investment Group, Tiger Properties, RAK Properties, Dubai World Central, Roots Land Real Estate, Corner Stone Real Estate, Chapal World LLC, Savannah Properties, Threesixty, KM Properties, Time Properties, Asia Star Properties International, and Sherwoods Independent Property Consultant among others. In addition to being a platform for collective discussion on how to revive the market, the event also provided developers an opportunity to highlight their preferential pricing schemes and prices during the event.

”The success of the 'International Property Show - Dubai 2009' proves that challenges can be overcome if we include creativity to our strategy while leveraging resources efficiently,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, Managing Director, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions. "Our collective efforts to revive the market will form the foundation for a sturdier market structure in the future, which will prevent a repeat of the crisis we are witnessing currently. We would like to extend our gratitude to RERA and the Dubai Land Department for their continuous support to the show. We would also like to thank all the exhibitors and visitors at this year’s event for their patronage, and we look forward to their cooperation in the months ahead as we press ahead with our new growth initiatives like the opening of our European office in Italy to address requirements of the international markets.”

The ‘International Property Show - Dubai 2009’ was first organised in 2004, and has since grown to become the definitive event for companies seeking to establish strong personal relationships with worldwide players in property and investment industries. At present, SME is working on the next edition of the show, which is expected to draw in many serious buyers and investors seeking to acquire high quality residential, commercial or mixed-use units.
